Pieve di Ledro

Pieve di Ledro is a mountain settlement at about 650 meters elevation in Trentino characterized by stone houses and narrow streets that open toward Lake Ledro and surrounding peaks. The buildings display typical alpine architecture adapted to mountain living, with thick walls and traditional design elements that reflect centuries of local building practices.

The settlement developed as a religious and administrative center for the valley, with the Church of San Giovanni Battista built in the 12th century to serve the community. In 2010, it merged with five neighboring villages to form the new municipality of Ledro, ending centuries of separate governance.

The Church of San Giovanni Battista, constructed in the 12th century, stands as the central religious structure with original architectural elements and period decorations.

Visitors can explore the Pharmacy Museum to see 19th century medical tools and learn about early healthcare in the valley. The village is easily walkable, and several mountain trails start from this location for those interested in hiking or cycling.

The Sentiero di Pur path once served as the main connection between this village and neighboring Molina, functioning as a vital trade route for generations. Today this historic trail works as a starting point for hiking and cycling excursions into the surrounding mountains.
