Santa Cristina, Parma

The Santa Cristina church features three naves separated by pillars with Ionic capitals and four chapels on each side topped by hemispherical domes.

The construction of Santa Cristina began in 1650 under the direction of architect Pietro Caracciolo and continued until 1662, with monastery work extending to 1732.

The interior displays numerous artworks, including frescoes by Filippo Maria Galletti and a collection of paintings depicting the Life of the Virgin by Giovanni Battista Venanzi.

Located on Via Repubblica in central Parma, the church stands near other religious monuments and remains an active place of worship for the local community.

The church houses an organ built in 1764 by Antonio Poncini Negri, which underwent restoration in 1983 following damage from the 1944 bombings.
