Grazia Deledda's Museum

Grazia Deledda's Museum is a house museum in Nuoro spread across three stories displaying her personal possessions, letters, and documents related to her life and writing. The ten rooms present the spaces where she lived alongside objects that shaped her literary work.

The house was purchased by the Municipality of Nuoro in 1968 and later adapted by the Regional Ethnographic Institute before opening as a museum in 1983. This transformation preserved the historic character of the residence where the writer spent her early years.

The museum displays how writers and artists lived and worked in Sardinia through their creations and personal objects on view. It shows the important role that literature played in shaping the region's cultural identity.

The museum offers guided tours and multimedia experiences that give a thorough overview of the collection. The courtyard with ancient oak trees provides a quiet place to rest between exploring the indoor rooms.

Visitors can see the original Nobel Prize certificate and medal from 1926 along with recordings of the acceptance speech. These items are displayed alongside audio recordings that let people hear her voice from that historic moment.
