The Biagi organ, installed in the north transept, features 27 stops across two manual keyboards and a pedalboard with mechanical key action system.
Master organ builder Luca Biagi constructed this instrument between 1597 and 1599, incorporating advanced technical innovations that set new standards for organ manufacturing.
The organ's case, designed by architect Giacomo della Porta, stands on a 15-meter high tribune supported by yellow marble Corinthian columns.
The instrument underwent multiple restorations throughout centuries by notable craftsmen including Giuseppe Testa, Ugo Annibale Traeri, and Celestino Testa.
The upper keyboard spans 59 notes and includes split accidentals, reflecting specific harmonic techniques from the late 16th century period.
