The white marble structure features twenty Corinthian columns supporting an entablature decorated with palmettes and neoclassical architectural elements.
The Whitaker family commissioned the construction of this music pavilion in 1875, with architect Salvatore Valenti leading the design process.
The pavilion was created to maintain an open public space for musical performances, preventing residential development in the central square of Palermo.
Visitors can reach the pavilion through Piazza Castelnuovo, which connects to main public transportation routes and walking paths in central Palermo.
Each corner of the pavilion displays the Triscele, an ancient Sicilian symbol carved into the tympanum of the marble structure.
