Madonna dell'Olivo

The Madonna dell'Olivo consists of two distinct religious structures: a church in Chiavari and a sanctuary nestled among olive groves in Bacezza.

The shrine's history dates to 936 when a weaver discovered a Madonna image among olive trees, leading to the construction of the first chapel.

The sanctuary features an icon of the Madonna with dark complexion holding a child, painted on canvas against a golden background in Greek tradition.

The sanctuary includes a visitor hall with kitchen, garden spaces, and parking facilities for fifteen cars or one bus near the premises.

The sanctuary manages an olive grove farm spanning 7 hectares, producing premium extra virgin olive oils from 2,000 plants of different varieties.
