Francesco Santilli granted his property to the Order of Augustinian Scalzi in 1624, leading to the construction of the church and monastery complex.
The second Sunday of August marks the celebration of Madonna di Porto Salvo with a maritime procession carrying the statue across the waters.
The church underwent restoration work in 2013, which included repairs to both interior and exterior elements, including the clock tower mechanism.
The monastery attached to the church contained a public pharmacy until 1809, when French laws mandated its closure and partial conversion into residential space.
