Villa Levi-Tedeschi

Villa Levi-Tedeschi is a neoclassical country house in Valera near Parma with a formal plan and carefully proportioned facade. The structure features a rectangular footprint with a central staircase leading to a columned portico that anchors the front elevation.

Paolo Gazola designed and built the house between 1822 and 1825 for bankers Antonio and Lodovico Laurent, who served as financial advisors to Duchess Maria Luigia. The construction period coincided with Parma's time under direct Habsburg-Este rule.

The entrance hall displays a vaulted ceiling decorated with mythological frescoes from the workshop of Giovan Battista Borghesi. These painted scenes reflect the educated tastes of the family who commissioned the villa.

The villa is located at via Emilia Ovest 62 and can be reached via State Road 9, which connects directly from Parma's city center. Plan your visit to allow enough time to explore both the exterior grounds and the decorated interior spaces.

The house served as a filming location in 1960 for 'La ragazza con la valigia' starring Claudia Cardinale and directed by Valerio Zurlini. Few visitors realize the villa's connection to this classic Italian film.
