Punta della suina, Strand in Italien
Punta della Suina is a beach in Gallipoli located on the southern coast of Salento. The shoreline is bordered by gentle rocky outcrops, with a mix of sand and pebbles and calm, clear water that deepens gradually.
The location served for centuries as a mooring spot for local fishing boats and gradually developed into a bathing area. Its connection to maritime traditions remains part of the landscape.
The beach is easily reachable on foot from central Gallipoli and fairly accessible from the main roads. Visitors should be aware that the rocky sections can be slippery, so appropriate footwear is advisable.
The name references the small peninsula that resembles a pig's head in profile – a quirk that many visitors overlook. This distinctive shape becomes apparent when viewing the cove from certain angles along the shore.
