Palazzo Andreani, Art Nouveau palace in Mantua, Italy
Palazzo Andreani is a three-story building in the Art Nouveau style that emerged in early twentieth-century Mantua. The ornamental decoration on the facade and carefully crafted details shape its appearance and show the special qualities of this architectural period.
The palazzo was completed in 1914 and marked a new moment in the city's development. The structure reflects the artistic ambitions that shaped European building at the start of the twentieth century.
The building carries the signature of architect Aldo Andreani, who combined modern design language with references to older building styles. You can see this mixture clearly in the ornamental details and facade design when you walk past it.
The building is located near the city center and is easy to reach by public transport. The place does not have regular opening hours for visitors since it functions as an office building today, but you can fully enjoy the architecture from the outside.
During an earlier renovation, changes from the 18th century at windows and facades were removed to restore the architect's original design. This work showed how much ideas about proper architecture can change over many decades.
