Hyōgo, Administrative ward in Kobe, Japan

The Hyōgo ward covers 14.56 square kilometers along Osaka Bay, featuring industrial zones, residential areas, and a network of canals completed in 1899.

The region transformed from a weapons storage facility during the Heian period into a crucial port by the 8th century under the name Ōwada-no-Tomari.

The Nōfuku-ji temple contains the Hyogo Daibutsu, an 11-meter tall Buddha statue, while the Tōka-Ebisu Festival celebrates commerce throughout the district.

The ward office provides comprehensive services to its 106,322 residents, including a new digital childcare information system launching in April 2024.

The Wadamisaki Lighthouse, constructed in 1871 and rebuilt in 1884, stands as a national tangible cultural asset since 1998.
