Honjo, Historical district in Sumida-ku, Japan.
The neighborhood of Honjo occupies a section of eastern Tokyo, intersected by multiple streets and bound by the Sumida River at its western edge.
During the early 20th century, Honjo functioned as an independent ward of Tokyo City until 1947, when it merged with Mukojima to establish Sumida ward.
The district contains several religious structures and traditional landmarks, including temples such as Genko-ji, Kegon-ji, and the Wakamiya Ushijima shrine.
The area maintains connections to central Tokyo through multiple transportation routes and contains modern retail establishments, corporate offices, and educational facilities.
Lion Corporation, which produces hygiene products, maintains its headquarters in this former industrial district that once housed numerous factories and workers.
