Minezaki Stable was a sumo training facility in Nerima featuring residential quarters and practice areas for wrestlers to work under professional guidance. The compound could accommodate multiple competitors who trained daily on its grounds.
The facility was established in 1988 when a trainer separated from an existing group and founded his own operation with initial wrestlers. A significant restructuring occurred in 2012 when it merged with another stable, allowing it to expand operations.
The stable maintained the customs of professional sumo wrestling, where wrestlers lived communally and learned the discipline through daily practice and strict codes of conduct. Living under one roof with their masters created bonds that defined their identity as competitors.
The facility was located near Chikatetsu Akatsuka Station on the Yurakucho Line, making it accessible by public transportation. Keep in mind that sumo training facilities typically have limited public access, so checking beforehand is important.
Following the 2012 merger, the facility gained permission to host wrestlers from countries like Mongolia, which was unusual for this type of operation. This openness brought international talent to a place deeply rooted in traditional Japanese wrestling methods.
