Ikoma Station, Railway station in Ikoma, Nara Prefecture, Japan
Ikoma Station is a railway station in Ikoma, Nara Prefecture, with three island platforms spanning six tracks that accommodate three regional transit lines. The layout connects the Nara Line, Ikoma Line, and Keihanna Line to facilitate regional movement.
The station opened in 1914 under the Osaka Electric Tramway Company as a regional transit point. Control passed to the Shigi Ikoma Electric Railway Company in 1926, which expanded and modernized its role in the transportation network.
The station serves as a daily crossroads for local commuters connecting different neighborhoods while also welcoming visitors heading toward temples and shrines nearby. Locals rely on it as a central meeting point throughout the year.
Bus services from Nara Kotsu Bus Lines depart from the north and south exits, connecting to surrounding areas and neighborhoods. Signs at each exit clearly indicate which bus routes serve different destinations in the region.
Each of the three lines operating here uses its own color code and numbering system to help passengers navigate the network without confusion. This system makes it much simpler for visitors to identify the correct platform and direction.
