Kusaki Dam, Gravity dam in Midori, Japan
The Kusaki Dam extends 405 meters across the Watarase River, rising 140 meters high with a reservoir capacity of 60,500,000 cubic meters.
The Japan Water Agency initiated the construction of Kusaki Dam in 1965, completing the structure in 1976 as a response to water management needs.
The Kusaki Lake Festival takes place on August 15, bringing together residents near the dam for trout catching activities and firework displays.
Visitors reach the dam by bus services running from Shinmachi Station or Gunma-Fujioka Station, with journey times of 60 and 40 minutes respectively.
The dam management office maintains water quality analysis facilities that monitor heavy metal concentrations daily to ensure downstream water safety.
