World Memorial Hall, Multi-purpose arena in Minatojima Nakamachi, Kobe, Japan.
World Memorial Hall is a multi-purpose arena on Port Island with two spectator balconies and a total of 3,528 fixed seats for up to 8,000 visitors. The arena floor provides space for additional temporary seating, while an air conditioning system regulates the entire indoor space.
The architectural firm Showa Sekkei designed this building, which opened on October 5, 1984, as part of the Kobe Convention Complex. The facility emerged during the urban development of Port Island in the eighties.
This hall has carried its current name since 2002, after being known as World Hall, and regularly hosts professional wrestling tournaments from the country's leading promotions. The building also serves as a venue for large concerts and sporting competitions that draw thousands of spectators from across the region.
Visitors reach the hall via the man-made Port Island south of the city center, which is connected by a railway line. The spacious entrance areas and foyers make access easier even during heavily attended events.
This facility became the second site in Japan equipped for major indoor track and field competitions, expanding the possibilities for national sporting events in enclosed spaces. The arena floor can be reconfigured for different sports, allowing flexible use throughout the year.
