University of Creation; Art, Music & Social Work, Art education university in Takasaki, Japan.
The University of Creation, Art, Music & Social Work was an art-focused higher education institution in Takasaki with two campuses in different parts of town. Each site offered studios for artistic practice, performance spaces for music, and learning areas dedicated to social work.
The institution was founded in 2004 and provided education for nine years until the Ministry of Education closed it in 2013. The decision came because of violations of regulations governing private schools.
The institution focused on artists and musicians who took responsibility toward their communities seriously. Programs connected creative work with social engagement through projects that brought people together.
The Nakayama campus focused on creative work and art instruction, while the Yachiyo campus offered social work courses. Visitors should note that the university is no longer operating and holds only historical interest as a location.
The university was known under President Daitetsu Koike for his forward-thinking approach to linking artistic learning with community action. The institution ran dual-language websites in Japanese and English to make its program accessible to an international audience.
