菅原城北大橋, Arch bridge in Higashiyodogawa-ku and Asahi-ku, Japan.
The Sugawara Jokita Bridge is an arch bridge made of concrete that crosses the Yodo River between two districts. It measures approximately 1,350 meters long and about 25 meters wide.
The bridge opened in 1989 and created an important link between two districts on opposite sides of the river. It operated as a toll facility until 2014, when it became free for all users.
The bridge incorporates Japanese engineering principles with two supporting columns designed to control wind forces while maintaining structural integrity over the Yodo River.
This crossing makes it easy for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians to move between the two sides of the river. The flat structure is accessible for all types of traffic without steep hills or grades.
The bridge passes over reed beds and water areas that are home to several fish species, including a rare one protected in the region. These habitats remain undisturbed beneath the structure and form part of the river ecosystem.
