ミヤコ蝶々記念館, Memorial museum in Minoo, Japan.
The Miyako Butterfly Memorial Museum was a museum housed in a converted residential building that displayed personal belongings, scripts, and memorabilia of the late performer Miyako Butterfly. The collection included her hats, glasses, diaries, and comedy scripts that documented her life and work.
The museum opened in May 2008 and operated for about 10 years until it closed in June 2018. Financial difficulties and declining visitor numbers led to its closure.
The performer Miyako Butterfly was a celebrated comedian in the Kansai entertainment world, and the museum reflected her importance to regional comedy and theater. The displayed items like her scripts and signature accessories showed how she influenced local entertainment during her career.
The building has been converted into a medical clinic and is no longer accessible to the public as a museum since May 2021. Visitors should note that medical services are now offered at this location.
The final exhibition on display contained about 600 personal artifacts documenting the life of the performer who was born in 1920 and passed away in 2000 at age 80. This large collection provided a rare look into the private life of a regional entertainment figure.
