Mushi Tech World, Entomological museum in Sukagawa, Japan
Mushi Tech World is an entomological museum in Sukagawa, Japan, that brings together live insects, scale models, and hands-on stations under one roof. The displays cover insect life stages, body structures, and the ways these creatures interact with plants and other animals.
The museum opened in November 2001 as part of a technical research garden in the Sukagawa area. Over time it grew from a display space into a documentation and education center focused on entomology.
Mushi Tech World draws many school groups and families who come to see live insects at close range. Watching children react to the live specimens gives the visit a lively, informal feel that differs from a typical museum.
The museum is most easily reached by car, as public transport options in the area are limited. A visit of around 2 hours covers the main areas, but families with children may want to allow extra time for the hands-on stations.
One of the exhibits uses a flight simulator to let visitors see the world through the eyes of an insect, including how obstacles and light appear at that scale. This perspective shift is rarely offered in natural history settings and tends to surprise first-time visitors.
