一畑園
一畑園 (Ichibata-en) was an amusement park built on a hillside above the Ichibata Yakushiji temple in Shimane Prefecture, Japan. It featured rides for children, a small zoo with lions, tigers, and elephants, and open spaces where families could spend the day.
The park opened in the early 1960s, built and managed by Ichibata Electric Railway, the local train company. After nearly 20 years of operation, it closed in 1979 as visitor numbers fell and leisure habits in the area changed.
The park's advertising jingle, which began with the words 'Shall we go to Ichibata Park?', became a familiar part of daily life in the region. Many people who grew up nearby still recall it when they think of childhood outings.
The park no longer exists, so there is nothing to visit at the original site today. Those interested in the history of the area can explore the surroundings of the Ichibata Yakushiji temple, which stands near where the park once was.
Some of the original advertisements for the park were placed inside train cars operated by Ichibata Electric Railway, and a few of these signs are still visible today. Passengers riding the local train line can still come across them on board.
