上毛大橋, Concrete bridge in Maebashi, Japan
The Jomo Bridge spans the Tone River and connects Maebashi City with Yoshioka Town. The concrete structure includes separate lanes for vehicles as well as pathways for pedestrians and cyclists.
Construction began in 1996 and traffic started crossing in March 1999. This infrastructure project linked two communities to improve transportation across the Gunma region.
The bridge is a popular spot for watching sunrises, especially on New Year's Day when locals gather to see the year's first light. People use this location for moments of reflection at the beginning of a new year.
You can reach the bridge on foot from Gunma Sosha Station and clear pathways guide pedestrians and cyclists. The routes are well marked so you can easily find your way.
The bridge has a subtle slope descending from Yoshioka Town toward Maebashi City. This gentle grade follows the natural elevation difference between the two riverbanks.
