Shin'iji

Shin'iji is a Buddhist temple in Nerima featuring a main hall designed in Indian architectural style, mirroring the Hongwanji Tsukiji Branch design. The grounds contain a spacious courtyard and burial areas accessible to the public.

The temple was established in 1920 by Master Arakawa Saisho as a branch of Shingyo-ji Temple in Ikebukuro. It relocated to its present site in 1929 as an independent institution.

The temple serves followers of the Jodo Shinshu Hongwanji school, with an Amida Buddha statue as its central focus for worship. People gather here for ceremonies and find the grounds a reflective space in the urban neighborhood.

The grounds offer wheelchair-accessible facilities with elevators and restroom areas throughout. The location near Sakuradai and Nerima stations makes it easy to reach on foot from either direction.

The site operates a cemetery called Nerima Joen with diverse burial options for followers of multiple traditions. Annual memorial services honor thirteen different Buddhist denominations in a rare display of interfaith practice.
