Nanzō-in, Buddhist temple in Nerima-ku, Japan

The Nanzo-in temple complex contains a bronze reclining Buddha statue measuring 41 meters in length and weighing 300 tons.

The temple relocated from Mount Koya to its current location in 1899 following opposition from local authorities during an anti-Buddhist movement.

Inside the statue, sacred ashes of Buddha and two disciples, Ānanda and Maudgalyayana, were placed as gifts from Myanmar Buddhist communities.

Visitors reach the temple via the JR Sasaguri Line from Hakata Station to Kido-Nanzoin-Mae Station, followed by a five-minute walk.

The temple maintains 4,315 nokotsudo storage locations for deceased remains, with a single fee covering 200 years of preservation.
