Kurashiki Mirai Park, Urban park in Kurashiki, Japan
Kurashiki Mirai Park is a green space along the Kurashiki Canal with a 600-meter promenade and open grass fields for recreation. The grounds feature outdoor performance areas, children's play equipment, and distinctive circular wisteria trellises throughout.
The park opened in November 2011 on land that once housed the Kurashiki Spinning Mill factory. Before becoming green space, an amusement park operated at this location until it closed in 2008.
The name 'Mirai' means 'future' in Japanese and was chosen from more than 700 public suggestions to represent the city's forward direction. Today it serves as a gathering space where locals and visitors connect with nature and water features along the canal.
The park sits right beside JR Kurashiki Station for easy access. It is designed as an emergency evacuation area with special equipment including benches that can convert into cooking stations for disaster preparedness.
Water features flow directly from the Kurashiki Canal itself, connecting the park to the city's historic waterway system. This integration allows visitors to experience the canal from a different perspective than the traditional walkways above it.
