Originally constructed as Kurashiki City Hall in 1960, the structure was transformed into an art museum in 1983 following the relocation of municipal offices.
The museum collection includes works by Japanese artists Yayoi Kusama, Kazuo Sakata, and Genichiro Inokuma, representing modern and contemporary Japanese art movements.
Located 12 minutes from Kurashiki Station, the museum charges 210 yen for adults and operates from 9:00 AM to 5:15 PM, with closures on Mondays.
The building received recognition as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property of Japan in 2020, marking its significance in architectural and cultural heritage.
