Utsumi Bridge

Utsumi Bridge is an arch road bridge connecting the mainland to Tashima Island with two traffic lanes for vehicles. The structure uses a special girder system that spans across the water while maintaining clear views for navigation.

The bridge was designed and built by a major construction company and opened to traffic in the early 1990s. Its completion marked an important moment for regional transportation connections.

The bridge incorporates local elements with wisteria trellises at the Numakuma entrance and Washington palms on the Utsumi-cho side, reflecting regional traditions.

The bridge is open to vehicles and allows direct passage between the two landmasses. It functions as an active traffic route, so traveling by car is the practical way to cross or viewing it from a safe vantage point works best.

The bridge features a distinctive design with specially arranged wires that form geometric patterns while maintaining structural integrity. This combination of engineering and visual structure makes it interesting from a technical standpoint.
