Tomonoura Museum of History and Folklore

The museum displays historical documents, fishing equipment, traditional crafts, and folklore artifacts across multiple themed exhibition areas within its hilltop location.

The museum opened in 1988 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Fukuyama city system, preserving the heritage of this former maritime trade center.

The permanent collection includes materials about local festivals, such as the Otebi rituals and Shrine ritual of Bow, alongside traditional Houmei-shu production artifacts.

Located 30 minutes from JR Fukuyama Station by bus, the museum operates from 9:00 to 17:00 and charges 150 yen for general admission.

The museum presents a seven-tiered ornament from a merchant house during the annual Tomonoura Hina Doll Festival and offers views of the Seto Inland Sea.
