Rose Arena, Indoor sports complex in Midori-cho Park, Fukuyama, Japan
Rose Arena is an indoor sports facility in Midori-cho Park, Fukuyama. Its main hall has a 70 by 40 metre floor and a ceiling 15 to 19 metres high, with fixed seating for 2,540. In summer the hall becomes a 50-metre, nine-lane pool with adjustable depth; an outdoor diving pool with 5, 7.5 and 10 metre platforms stands alongside.
The venue was built in 1995 to expand the city's sports facilities. A major local transport company became the naming partner in 2020, giving the space a new official designation.
The nickname Rose Arena comes from the rose, Fukuyama's city flower; two other city venues also carry rose names, Reed Rose and Big Rose. The hall has hosted Premier League volleyball, WJBL basketball and concerts, and its 50 m pool opened with the 71st Japan Swimming Championships in 1995.
The arena is at 2-2 Midori-machi, Fukuyama, Hiroshima Prefecture. From the north exit of JR Fukuyama Station, take the 02 "Mawaro-se" blue-route bus to Hanazono-cho, or a Chugoku Bus from stop 4 to Midori-machi. The outdoor diving pool is a separate attached facility.
The swimming pool features an adjustable depth system that allows the water level to be modified for different purposes. This design makes it possible to accommodate both beginning swimmers and advanced athletes in the same facility.
