Ines Fukuyama, Mixed-use skyscraper in Fukuyama, Japan
Ines Fukuyama is a 28-story mixed-use building standing 101.65 meters tall, housing apartments, a hotel, medical facilities, and shops in one structure. The complex combines residential, commercial, and service functions within its vertical layout.
Construction started in September 2008 and finished in March 2011, replacing an older textile building that had occupied the same location. The completion marked a transformation from industrial to mixed-use development in that downtown area.
The name 'Ines' comes from 'seni', the Japanese word for textiles, honoring the previous building that once stood on this site. This wordplay connects the neighborhood's industrial past with its current role as a residential destination.
The building connects directly to underground walkways and municipal parking, making it easy to reach from Fukuyama Station without going outside. Visitors and residents can move between the transit hub and the complex through covered passages, which is especially helpful during bad weather.
The residential section, Florence Fukuyama Rose Tower, holds the distinction of being the tallest building across the entire Bingo region and contains 140 apartments. This height makes it stand out dramatically against the surrounding landscape.
