Kita-Aoyama

Kita-Aoyama is a fashion district in Minato ward with broad tree-lined streets and contemporary buildings throughout the area. The neighborhood brings together international fashion boutiques, upscale restaurants, and residences in a mixed-use setting.

The area takes its name from samurai Aoyama Tadanari of the Tokugawa period, who established his residence here during the Edo era. This historical connection shaped the location's development over hundreds of years.

The district has art galleries and exhibition spaces throughout its streets where contemporary Japanese artists display their work alongside pieces from abroad. Visitors can encounter different exhibitions while walking through the neighborhood.

Four subway stations serve this district and provide strong connections to Tokyo's wider transport network. The main stations are Aoyama-itchōme, Omotesandō, Gaiemmae, and Nogizaka, making it easy to get around.

The Chichibunomiya Rugby Stadium in the northern part of the neighborhood hosts national and international rugby matches. The venue draws sports fans who want to experience live rugby competition.
