Chateau Ameba, Television studio in Shibuya-ku, Japan
Description
Chateau Ameba is a television studio in Shibuya-ku with six production studios on the ground floor designed for different broadcast needs. The building has editing facilities, master control rooms, numerous dressing rooms with shower facilities, and a rooftop stage available for various productions.
History
The building was completed in December 1991 as a fitness center before MTV Japan moved in during the late 1990s. It was completely transformed into a broadcasting facility starting in 2016.
Culture
The name comes from the Japanese word for amoeba, representing flexibility and adaptability in production. This space has become a hub where creators and performers work on content that reaches viewers across digital platforms.
Practical
The facility is located in central Shibuya with good access and modern infrastructure for broadcasts and filming. Keep in mind that this is an active workplace, so visiting may require advance arrangements or may be restricted during productions.
Did you know?
The building was designed with wooden elements throughout, inspired by a winery concept created by architect Kiyoshi Takeyama. This unexpected design choice creates a warm, distinctive setting for a modern broadcasting facility.
