Shibuya-ku, Urban administrative ward in Tokyo, Japan

Shibuya-ku encompasses 15 square kilometers of central Tokyo, housing 230,000 residents across neighborhoods including Harajuku, Ebisu, and Yoyogi districts.

The district originated from an 11th-century castle settlement, later transforming into a major railway hub with the opening of Yamanote Line in 1885.

The Shibuya crossing accommodates over 3,000 pedestrians at once, while surrounding streets contain fashion boutiques, entertainment venues, and modern shopping complexes.

Shibuya Station connects multiple railway lines, serving as a central transportation point with direct access to major commercial areas and residential neighborhoods.

A bronze statue commemorates Hachiko, a dog that waited at Shibuya Station daily for nine years after his owner passed away.
