Aoyama Twin, Commercial complex in Minami-Aoyama, Japan
Aoyama Twin is a commercial complex in Tokyo's Minami-Aoyama district with two connected towers standing 87.8 meters (288 feet) tall and a central plaza between them. The structure spans 23 stories above ground and houses offices, medical facilities, restaurants, and retail spaces.
The building was completed in October 1978 and stood as the only high-rise structure in the Aoyama-Ichome and Akasaka Imperial Palace area for about three decades. Its construction significantly shaped the character of this district.
The central plaza serves as a gathering place where the neighborhood comes together, particularly during the Aoyama Twin Patio Marché when local vendors and residents set up their goods. Visitors experience the active community here and can discover regional specialties.
The complex connects directly to Aoyama-Ichome Station, making access by public transportation very convenient. Inside you will easily find restaurants, shops, and other services, and navigation is straightforward because of the clear structure with two towers and the central plaza.
The building sits on an artificial ground level raised above the surrounding low-rise shops, creating an unusual architectural arrangement. This elevation is one of the most distinctive features of the complex in the urban landscape.
