Nogi Shrine, Shinto shrine in Akasaka, Tokyo, Japan

The shrine complex contains multiple traditional wooden buildings with orange torii gates spread across its meticulously maintained grounds in central Tokyo.

General Nogi Maresuke and his wife chose this location for their residence, where they performed ritual suicide following Emperor Meiji's death in 1912.

The shrine honors military valor and loyalty through its dedication to General Nogi, featuring regular ceremonies and an antique market every fourth Sunday.

Visitors can reach the shrine through exit 1 of Nogizaka Station on the Chiyoda Line, with opening hours from 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily.

The General's former residence, located next to the shrine, opens to the public only twice yearly on the eve and anniversary of his death.
