Minami-Kurihashi Depot, 埼玉県栗橋町にある東武鉄道の車両基地
The Minami-Kurihashi Depot is a rail yard in Kuki where Tobu Railway trains are stored and maintained. The facility covers a large area with multiple tracks, maintenance sheds, and washing facilities that accommodate various train types from commuter services to limited express models.
The depot was established in 1986 as a small repair shop alongside the station opening and has grown into a regional maintenance hub. In recent years, the facility has been modernized to support newer train models and implement environmental practices such as water recycling.
The depot is not open to casual visitors and requires permission or organized tours to enter the grounds. From outside the gates, you can watch trains moving in and out, as maintenance work is scheduled mostly during off-peak hours to avoid disrupting daily service.
The depot supported the revival of steam locomotive special services in 2017, showing its role in preserving regional rail heritage. These heritage train runs are made possible by the facility's maintenance capabilities, which can handle both historic and modern train types.
