大川寺遊園, Former amusement park in Toyama, Japan
Daisenzi Park was an amusement facility built on a mountainside with rides including a Ferris wheel, roller coaster, and spinning cups spread across the terrain. The layout followed the natural slope of the land, allowing visitors to explore different attractions at various elevations.
The park opened in 1958 as support for Japan's 13th National Sports Festival and operated until 1997. Newer entertainment facilities in the region eventually drew visitors away, leading to its closure.
This entertainment venue represented the largest amusement facility on the Sea of Japan coast during the early Showa period.
The site is spread across a mountainside, so visitors should expect to walk between attractions at different elevations. Wear appropriate footwear and dress for outdoor conditions when exploring the former grounds.
During winter months, the grounds transformed into a ski resort with an unconventional lift system using ropes instead of traditional chair lifts. This makeshift approach allowed the facility to serve both summer and winter visitors.
