薬種商の館金岡邸

The Kanaoka Medicine Merchant House displays numerous traditional medicine cabinets and contains approximately 180 different types of medicinal herb materials in its exhibition.

The Kanaoka family established this residence during the early Meiji period and contributed to the development of Toyama through medicine trade, banking, and electrical industries.

The newer wing features a complete cypress wood ceiling and maintains a traditional garden that reflects the architectural preferences of wealthy merchants in the Meiji period.

Located 5 minutes from Higashi-Shinjō Station, the residence operates from 9:30 to 17:00, with admission fees of 200 yen and additional charges for medicine grinding experiences.

Visitors receive complimentary health tea while exploring the exhibits and can borrow traditional happi coats for photographs at no additional cost.
