Toyama Municipal Folk Museum, Folk museum in Toyama Castle, Japan

The Toyama Municipal Folk Museum occupies a three-story tower on the Toyama Castle grounds that mimics traditional Japanese castle design. The collections are spread across multiple floors and display agricultural tools, traditional crafts, and historical objects from the region.

The tower was completed in 1954 and converted from an earlier industrial exhibition building into the city's first municipal museum. Architect Katsumi Yamamoto designed this transformation to create a landmark for Toyama.

The museum displays regional handicrafts and everyday items that show how people in Toyama lived and worked in earlier times. You can see traditional tools and household objects that were part of daily life here.

The museum is organized across multiple floors with a viewing platform at the top offering views over the city. Plan enough time to see the collections on each level and enjoy the vista from above.

The tower blends architectural elements from several famous castles like Hikone and Inuyama into a distinctive style all its own. This mixture makes it a registered cultural property with special importance to the region.
