Nyoirin-ji, Buddhist temple in Himeji, Japan
Nyoirin-ji Temple stands halfway up Mount Yoshino, featuring traditional Japanese architectural elements with seasonal gardens surrounding the main buildings and structures.
The temple was established in 1002 under Emperor Daigo's directive, becoming a central place of worship for Emperor Go-Daigo during the period of competing Imperial courts.
The temple's treasure house displays religious artifacts and objects from Emperor Go-Daigo's court, including paintings of Kusunoki Masatsura and inscriptions on temple doors.
Visitors can access the temple via a 35-minute walk from Kintetsu Yoshino Station, with admission fees of 500 yen for adults and reduced rates for students.
The temple contains a tatami chair shaped like a chaise lounge, positioned beneath a Buddha image, creating a dedicated space for meditation and reflection.
