Himeji City Science Museum

Himeji City Science Museum is a science facility with three main exhibition areas covering Earth, Nature, Space, and everyday scientific phenomena through interactive elements. These displays let visitors directly engage with concepts to understand them through hands-on experience.

The facility was founded in 1993 and underwent major renovations in 2009. These improvements significantly enhanced the permanent exhibitions and educational facilities.

The museum serves as a gathering place where families and school groups experience hands-on learning through experiments and interactive activities throughout the year. The exhibition spaces are designed so visitors can touch and try things themselves rather than simply observe.

The museum is located near Sakurayama Park and is open to visitors daily. Note that separate tickets are available for the permanent exhibition and planetarium shows.

The planetarium features a 27-meter dome accommodating up to 284 visitors for celestial presentations. Many people visit specifically for this immersive space experience, which is a major draw of the facility.
