Myōkensan Park

Myōkensan Park is a public park on elevated terrain with walking paths that wind through garden areas and several viewpoints overlooking Naruto city and the surrounding waters. The layout offers multiple routes for exploration and vantage points throughout.

The grounds contain the remains of Muya Castle, a fortress from Japan's feudal period that ranked among the nine castles of Awa. This heritage marks the area's strategic importance during that era.

The park serves as a gathering place each spring, where people come together to view cherry blossoms and celebrate the traditional hanami season. This annual event shapes how the local community marks the passage of the year.

The park is reachable on foot in about 20 minutes from JR Naruto Station or via the Kitasako Line bus followed by a 5-minute walk. Wear comfortable shoes since the terrain is hilly and the grounds are extensive.

The grounds house Toriide Naruto, a renovated building that functions as a community center while also serving as an emergency shelter. This dual purpose reflects how modern facilities in the area serve residents during everyday life and in times of need.
