Naruto, Coastal city in Tokushima Prefecture, Japan

The city extends over 191 square kilometers along the northeastern tip of Shikoku Island, bordered by the Seto Inland Sea and Kii Channel.

The modern city of Naruto formed in 1947 through the merger of four municipalities: Seto, Naruto, Muya, and Satoura in the Itano District.

The Oasahiko Shrine features an ancient camphor tree and traditional architecture that represents the intersection of nature and religious practices in Japan.

Regular trains on the Kotoku Line and Naruto Line connect the city with major urban centers, while the Tokushima Expressway provides road access.

The Naruto Strait produces water formations up to 20 meters in diameter when currents from the Seto Inland Sea collide with the Kii Channel.
