Okuyukiusu Ekitei

The Okuyukiusu Ekitei is an old post station in rural Hokkaido that shows how early Japanese postal infrastructure looked. The preserved building with its original structures provides insight into the facilities that travelers used when changing horses and postal coaches.

The post station was founded during the Edo period and was an important stop for travelers in the Nemuro region. It played this role until 1989, when the postal service was discontinued.
