The Taisetsu Fire Association is a joint emergency service organization operating across six municipalities in Hokkaido. It maintains stations in Biei and Higashikawa equipped to handle rescue operations in both mountain terrain and populated areas.

The union was established when multiple towns combined their emergency services for greater coordination and coverage. Over time it expanded to include specialized mountain rescue training and helicopter-assisted operations across the remote mountainous areas it serves.

The fire union incorporates traditional Japanese organizational methods while maintaining modern emergency response protocols across its service area.

Both stations operate around the clock and respond to emergency calls through their designated phone lines. These are working facilities primarily designed for active emergency response, not as visitor attractions.

The organization regularly trains alongside the Hokkaido wildfire helicopter, conducting joint exercises to sharpen skills for challenging mountain rescues. This specialized partnership enables swift and safe response to emergencies in the isolated mountainous regions it covers.
