Daikoku-ji, Buddhist temple in Fushimi-ku, Kyoto, Japan.
The Daikoku-ji temple complex spans across 600 hectares of land, divided between upper Kami Daigo and lower Shimo Daigo sections with multiple buildings and paths.
Founded in 874 AD, the temple received Imperial status under the Daigo Emperor and later became the Head Temple of the Daigo Branch of Shingon Buddhism.
The temple maintains a collection of 150,000 artifacts, including 75,537 National Treasures, representing centuries of Japanese Buddhist heritage and craftsmanship.
Visitors can participate in meditation sessions, ceremonies, and educational activities that introduce Japanese Buddhist practices and philosophical teachings throughout the year.
In 1598, Toyotomi Hideyoshi organized the Daigo-no-Hanami celebration at the temple grounds, planting over 700 cherry trees that still bloom each spring.
