Fushimi Momoyama Castle Land, Amusement park in Fushimi-ku, Japan.
Fushimi Momoyama Castle Land was an amusement park in Fushimi-ku, Kyoto, centered around a replica castle complex with twin keeps. The grounds included rides, gardens, and open spaces that gave visitors a place to walk and spend the day.
The park opened in 1964 on land near the original Fushimi Castle, which Toyotomi Hideyoshi built in the late 16th century. After closing in January 2003, the rides and facilities were removed, though the replica castle structure remained for a time.
The design of the park incorporated elements from Japanese castle architecture, reflecting the traditional building techniques of the Azuchi-Momoyama period.
The former park is now a public athletic area used by joggers and others for outdoor exercise. The surrounding neighborhood offers a quiet walk if you want to explore Fushimi beyond the busier tourist spots.
After the siege in 1600, blood-stained floorboards from the original castle were salvaged and taken to several temples across Kyoto. These relics still remind visitors of the violent events that marked the fortress's final days.
