Amagawa Oshima is a residential district in Maebashi covering approximately 2 square kilometers. The Ryomo railway line cuts through the area from northwest to southeast, creating distinct sections on either side.
The area developed as Amagawa Oshima Village during the Edo period. In 1955, it became part of Maebashi City following the merger with Kise Village.
The neighborhood hosts traditional markets where regional producers sell fresh goods, and art spaces dedicated to local artists. These gathering places reflect how the community values handcrafted products and creative work.
The district is well served by three railway stations within about 2 kilometers, including Maebashi Oshima Station. Multiple bus stops provide additional transport options for visitors.
Wood processing factories cluster near Maebashi Oshima Station as part of the Higashi-Maebashi Industrial Complex. This traditional industry continues to shape the character of the district.
