Maebashi-futagoyama-kofun, Ancient burial mound in Maebashi, Japan
The Maebashi-futagoyama-kofun features two tiers and extends 96 meters in length with a height of six meters, facing 30 degrees northwest.
The burial mound, constructed in the middle of the 6th century AD, became a National Historic Site of Japan in 1936 within the Asakura-Hirose Kofun cluster.
A ceremonial platform on the northeast side of the kofun indicates specific funeral practices and social organization during the Kofun period.
The site includes a museum called Haniwa no Yakata that displays artifacts found during excavations, providing information about the ancient burial structure.
The kofun's shield-shaped moat encircled the entire structure, differentiating it from other burial mounds in the Maebashi region.
