富士櫻自然墓地公園

Fujisакura Natural Cemetery Park is a large memorial park located at the base of Mount Fuji, featuring approximately 8,000 cherry trees of 15 different varieties across its grounds. The property includes landscaped grass areas, walking paths, and two columbarium buildings designed for memorial services.

The Soka Gakkai Buddhist organization established this memorial park in October 1980, creating a space that merges traditional burial customs with natural surroundings. Since its opening, the site has become a significant location for family remembrance in the region.

Two columbarium buildings, Taho and Joraku halls, serve as spaces for storing cremated remains according to Japanese Buddhist practices. Visitors come here to pay respects and honor their deceased family members in these dedicated memorial halls.

The park opens daily from 9 AM to 5 PM except on Tuesdays, with extended hours during Obon festival and equinox periods. Wear comfortable shoes since the terrain is hilly and requires walking along multiple pathways to explore the grounds.

All memorial stones throughout the grounds maintain uniform dimensions, creating a harmonious pattern across the grass sections. This deliberate design approach emphasizes equality among the deceased and gives the park a calm, orderly appearance.
